Squalane is the powerhouse ingredient at the heart of every Biossance formula. It's bioidentical to the moisture found in human skin, making it weightless and instantly absorbed and perfect for use all over the body. Our squalane is derived from sustainable sugarcane, a purer, vegan, more ethical, and more effective version than other forms of squalane. And since it replaces the need for similar moisture taken from the livers of sharks, it saves millions of these critical apex predators per year.
- Squalane oil for the face instantly hydrates and locks in essential moisture.
- Helps boost the absorption of other active ingredients and enables them to work more effectively.
- Promotes microbiome diversity for healthier-looking skin.

JUST ONE INGREDIENT:
Squalane Oil: Weightless, hydrating and high-performing oil, sustainably sourced from sugarcane. Replenishes lost-moisture, helps to maintain hydration and leave the skin exceptionally soft.
1. WHERE DOES YOUR 100% SQUALANE COME FROM? WHY SUGARCANE AND NOT OLIVES?
Traditionally Squalane was harvested from shark liver, though our scientists spent years developing pure Squalane from 100% plant-based, renewable sugarcane. The quality of Squalane produced from olives depends on unreliable factors like weather and crop growth. The quality and purity of our sugarcane Squalane is stable and cost effective.
2. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SQUALANE AND SQUALENE?
The human body produces SqualEne. Squalene is part of our skin's own natural moisture, but the amount made and retained in your skin decreases over time. Our Squalane is a hydrogenated version of Squalene which makes it more suitable for sensitive skin. Additionally, our sugarcane-derived Squalane is a sustainable alternative to the historical production method of squalene from shark liver. Our background in biotechnology allows us to create products that are effective and sustainably sourced wherever possible.
3. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 100% SQUALANE OIL AND SQUALANE + VITAMIN C ROSE OIL? DO I NEED BOTH?
While they both contain super hydrating Squalane, our Vitamin C Rose Oil also contains...(you guessed it!) Vitamin C and rose essential oil, making it suitable for facial use. Our 100% Squalane Oil can be used head-to-toe as an all-over body, face and hair hydrator.
Squalane Oil For Face: Rub a small amount of pure squalane oil together between hands to warm. Pat gently onto face, neck and décolleté.
Squalane Oil For Body: Massage a few pumps onto skin immediately after showering, paying close attention to areas needing extra hydration like arms, legs, and knees.
Squalane Oil For Hair: Rub a small amount of pure squalane oil between hands and smooth through dry or wet hair to add shine and tame flyaways, split ends and frizz.
TIPS:
Use 100% squalane as a cuticle oil.

Helps chronic dry patches
I got this because I have frequent eczema flare ups/ chronic dry patches around my nose, mouth, hairline and neck. Sometime I use it on it's own and other times I mix it in with my moisturizer. It has definitely helped. I still get eczema flare ups but they are less frequent and the dry patches are smaller. I was using jojoba oil before and while I still like jojoba, this is more moisturizing and absorbs a bit better for me. However it's still a bit too oily to wear in the daytime if I'm going to wear make up. I also wish the pump allowed you to dispense a smaller amount because sometimes I just want a small drop for a bit of extra hydration on a dry spot instead of covering my whole face and neck which is what you have to do with a full pump so it absorbs without being oily on your skin. But overall I'm satisfied and will likely buy again or maybe try the omega moisturizer.

Wonderful
This is a wonderful product. It helps my sons eczema on his chin and works well for my “winter skin.” It’s so lightweight and a little goes a long way. Highly recommend!

I won't be without it
I love squalane oil. I use it in my hair and on my body too. I makes the hair lovely and soft and bouncy - not greasy. I feel it firms up my skin and leaves it 'touchable'

Not worth the price
Used this on the body (not face) after showering at night. I don't see how this is any different than the oil and body lotion I've used before that cost a fraction of the price. My skin didn't have any bad reaction but will not buy again given the price and not real benefit.

I enjoy the Biossance Squalane oil very much. I combine it with my body lotion. I also use it as a moisturizing layer on my face. It is very versatile.
