Squalane is the powerhouse ingredient at the heart of every Biossance formula. It's bioidentical to the moisture found in human skin, making it weightless and instantly absorbed and perfect for use all over the body. Our squalane is derived from sustainable sugarcane, a purer, vegan, more ethical, and more effective version than other forms of squalane. And since it replaces the need for similar moisture taken from the livers of sharks, it saves millions of these critical apex predators per year.
- Squalane oil for the face instantly hydrates and locks in essential moisture.
- Helps boost the absorption of other active ingredients and enables them to work more effectively.
- Promotes microbiome diversity for healthier-looking skin.

JUST ONE INGREDIENT:
Squalane Oil: Weightless, hydrating and high-performing oil, sustainably sourced from sugarcane. Replenishes lost-moisture, helps to maintain hydration and leave the skin exceptionally soft.
1. WHERE DOES YOUR 100% SQUALANE COME FROM? WHY SUGARCANE AND NOT OLIVES?
Traditionally Squalane was harvested from shark liver, though our scientists spent years developing pure Squalane from 100% plant-based, renewable sugarcane. The quality of Squalane produced from olives depends on unreliable factors like weather and crop growth. The quality and purity of our sugarcane Squalane is stable and cost effective.
2. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SQUALANE AND SQUALENE?
The human body produces SqualEne. Squalene is part of our skin's own natural moisture, but the amount made and retained in your skin decreases over time. Our Squalane is a hydrogenated version of Squalene which makes it more suitable for sensitive skin. Additionally, our sugarcane-derived Squalane is a sustainable alternative to the historical production method of squalene from shark liver. Our background in biotechnology allows us to create products that are effective and sustainably sourced wherever possible.
3. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 100% SQUALANE OIL AND SQUALANE + VITAMIN C ROSE OIL? DO I NEED BOTH?
While they both contain super hydrating Squalane, our Vitamin C Rose Oil also contains...(you guessed it!) Vitamin C and rose essential oil, making it suitable for facial use. Our 100% Squalane Oil can be used head-to-toe as an all-over body, face and hair hydrator.
Squalane Oil For Face: Rub a small amount of pure squalane oil together between hands to warm. Pat gently onto face, neck and décolleté.
Squalane Oil For Body: Massage a few pumps onto skin immediately after showering, paying close attention to areas needing extra hydration like arms, legs, and knees.
Squalane Oil For Hair: Rub a small amount of pure squalane oil between hands and smooth through dry or wet hair to add shine and tame flyaways, split ends and frizz.
TIPS:
Use 100% squalane as a cuticle oil.

Super soft skin
I absolutely love this oil, it makes my skin silky smooth and does NOT clog my pores or give me breakouts. I do believe it should not be used on the face often but mostly on the neck and body and dry zones. I use the rose oil on my face. Love both.

Silky and clean feeling
Only face oil I have ever liked using on my reactive dry skin that can breakout from ingredients. I use this every night on my face to seal in my serum and moisturizer and on my hands and body. So light weight, moisturizing, silky and effective.

Quality oil
This is a very light oil. It was still a bit heavy for my face, but perfect for my hair and body.

The excellence of Squalane Oil
I had done research around Squalane and was aware of it. I only knew how good it was after using it on my hands. Over the winter and with the repeated use of sanitizers my hands had become so dry that they started cracking and it was quite painful. This Squalane oil was like a miracle that turned my dry hand condition over night. Unbelievable! I applied the oil followed by my hand cream and that was it. That’s all it took and I religiously follow the routine every night.

Best Squalane oil
I’ve used others but this is the best. It’s light and sinks right in reducing my redness and dry skin.

Good Product
The oil seems good. I have not had any negative reactions to the product. The smell is a little hard to get used to because we are all so used to a very artificially pleasant smell. I am pleased that it is cruelty free. I'm not sure it is very moisturizing though.
