Squalane is the powerhouse ingredient at the heart of every Biossance formula. It's bioidentical to the moisture found in human skin, making it weightless and instantly absorbed and perfect for use all over the body. Our squalane is derived from sustainable sugarcane, a purer, vegan, more ethical, and more effective version than other forms of squalane. And since it replaces the need for similar moisture taken from the livers of sharks, it saves millions of these critical apex predators per year.
- Squalane oil for the face instantly hydrates and locks in essential moisture.
- Helps boost the absorption of other active ingredients and enables them to work more effectively.
- Promotes microbiome diversity for healthier-looking skin.

JUST ONE INGREDIENT:
Squalane Oil: Weightless, hydrating and high-performing oil, sustainably sourced from sugarcane. Replenishes lost-moisture, helps to maintain hydration and leave the skin exceptionally soft.
1. WHERE DOES YOUR 100% SQUALANE COME FROM? WHY SUGARCANE AND NOT OLIVES?
Traditionally Squalane was harvested from shark liver, though our scientists spent years developing pure Squalane from 100% plant-based, renewable sugarcane. The quality of Squalane produced from olives depends on unreliable factors like weather and crop growth. The quality and purity of our sugarcane Squalane is stable and cost effective.
2. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SQUALANE AND SQUALENE?
The human body produces SqualEne. Squalene is part of our skin's own natural moisture, but the amount made and retained in your skin decreases over time. Our Squalane is a hydrogenated version of Squalene which makes it more suitable for sensitive skin. Additionally, our sugarcane-derived Squalane is a sustainable alternative to the historical production method of squalene from shark liver. Our background in biotechnology allows us to create products that are effective and sustainably sourced wherever possible.
3. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 100% SQUALANE OIL AND SQUALANE + VITAMIN C ROSE OIL? DO I NEED BOTH?
While they both contain super hydrating Squalane, our Vitamin C Rose Oil also contains...(you guessed it!) Vitamin C and rose essential oil, making it suitable for facial use. Our 100% Squalane Oil can be used head-to-toe as an all-over body, face and hair hydrator.
Squalane Oil For Face: Rub a small amount of pure squalane oil together between hands to warm. Pat gently onto face, neck and décolleté.
Squalane Oil For Body: Massage a few pumps onto skin immediately after showering, paying close attention to areas needing extra hydration like arms, legs, and knees.
Squalane Oil For Hair: Rub a small amount of pure squalane oil between hands and smooth through dry or wet hair to add shine and tame flyaways, split ends and frizz.
TIPS:
Use 100% squalane as a cuticle oil.

My skin loves this!
I've tried different brands of squalene before but nothing gave me the results this did. My skin drinks it up and looks so plump and fresh after I put this on. I'm in my 60's so finding something to help hydrate my skin is vital; so happy I came across this product. I often layer a moisturizing bar or oil over it and do find I need to re-apply during the day but it is SO worth the effort. Keep in mind if you are younger, you will probably be fine with one app in the morning. Love this.

Equal and Oil
I love this oil, makes my face feel so soft, and wrinkles are noticeably diminished. One application lasts about 2 days, and the product itself lasts about 3 months or more.

FABULOUS & BETTER than Rose Oil (For Dry Patchy Skin)
I had dry flakey and patchy skin and this item saved me from that! It works better than the Rose oil if you are having this seasonal problem!

I love this product but the packaging really sucks
I LOVE this oil! It never breaks me out, has only one ingredient, and is so beautifully perfectly moisturizing for me. I use it morning and night, and put my retinoid over it at night. The packing, however, is terrible. I don’t know why but over time, the pump starts leaking, and I get a gross oily puddle on my shelf. Whenever I press down, the oil comes out of the bottom of the pump, not the spout! So what I did is buy a dropper product from The Ordinary, use it up, wash out the dropper, and put my squalane in there. No mess, perfectly easy to control the quantity of product I’m getting, and travel friendly! Biossance, please spare me the effort and put this magic juice in a glass dropper bottle. Thank you!
