Squalane is the powerhouse ingredient at the heart of every Biossance formula. It's bioidentical to the moisture found in human skin, making it weightless and instantly absorbed and perfect for use all over the body. Our squalane is derived from sustainable sugarcane, a purer, vegan, more ethical, and more effective version than other forms of squalane. And since it replaces the need for similar moisture taken from the livers of sharks, it saves millions of these critical apex predators per year.
- Squalane oil for the face instantly hydrates and locks in essential moisture.
- Helps boost the absorption of other active ingredients and enables them to work more effectively.
- Promotes microbiome diversity for healthier-looking skin.

JUST ONE INGREDIENT:
Squalane Oil: Weightless, hydrating and high-performing oil, sustainably sourced from sugarcane. Replenishes lost-moisture, helps to maintain hydration and leave the skin exceptionally soft.
1. WHERE DOES YOUR 100% SQUALANE COME FROM? WHY SUGARCANE AND NOT OLIVES?
Traditionally Squalane was harvested from shark liver, though our scientists spent years developing pure Squalane from 100% plant-based, renewable sugarcane. The quality of Squalane produced from olives depends on unreliable factors like weather and crop growth. The quality and purity of our sugarcane Squalane is stable and cost effective.
2. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SQUALANE AND SQUALENE?
The human body produces SqualEne. Squalene is part of our skin's own natural moisture, but the amount made and retained in your skin decreases over time. Our Squalane is a hydrogenated version of Squalene which makes it more suitable for sensitive skin. Additionally, our sugarcane-derived Squalane is a sustainable alternative to the historical production method of squalene from shark liver. Our background in biotechnology allows us to create products that are effective and sustainably sourced wherever possible.
3. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 100% SQUALANE OIL AND SQUALANE + VITAMIN C ROSE OIL? DO I NEED BOTH?
While they both contain super hydrating Squalane, our Vitamin C Rose Oil also contains...(you guessed it!) Vitamin C and rose essential oil, making it suitable for facial use. Our 100% Squalane Oil can be used head-to-toe as an all-over body, face and hair hydrator.
How To Use: Apply to face, body and hair as needed. Great after the shower and post-sun exposure. Safe for all ages.
For face, rub a small amount together between hands to warm. Pat gently onto face, neck and décolleté. For body, massage a few pumps onto skin immediately after showering. For hair, rub a small amount between hands and smooth through dry or wet hair to add shine and tame flyaways, split ends and frizz.
When To Use: Day and night, head-to-toe.
Layering Tip: Start with your cleanser, next, apply eye treatment, follow with a serum and finally your moisturizer. Apply 100% Squalane Oil last to lock in hydration.

Absorbs nicely
I love my Biossance 100% Squalane oil. I use it everyday after I towel dry off but still in the shower to lock in extra moisture as I put it on my entire body. It absorbs perfectly! No stickiness, no tackiness, no ickiness, just softness. It’s awesome! I have dry skin, live in a dry climate. I highly recommend. Hey, try mixing with your regular lotion and messaging into your skin together, it’s wonderful!

Just a lovely nourishing oil
I have been using the squalene oil on my face & neck before bed. I also use it when I do my facial gua sha 2-3 times/week. It absorbs beautifully & feels very luxurious on my skin.

Self-care pampering at its best
I absolutely love the luxuriant velvety feel of the oil on my skin. It has been my favorite routine in the morning and evenings. My self-care arsenal has been bumped up a notch.

A good oil
This is the only oil that doesn’t clog my pores. I have really sensitive, dry, and acne prone skin. I can barely use any products because I react to almost everything. So when I find something that doesn’t upset my skin I keep using it. This stuff isn’t moisturizing enough but nothing is, so oh well! I use it in my hair too, before shampoo, as like a mask.

Poor packaging
I really wish that this bottle was made of glass instead of plastic (as many high-end oil products do) and came with a dropper instead of a pump. The pump dishes out way too much oi.

Love it!
This oil is FANTASTIC! It makes my face feel wonderful every night. I noticed that my face looks more fresh and it feels smooth. It’s the only product I ordered and now trying the bonus package promotion, I will order other items.

I love to use this right out of the shower while my skin is still damp— it soaks right in. Can’t live with this!

Perfect!
I have sensitive skin that's prone to breakouts, and I have to be super careful about trying new products. Moisturizers in general are problematic for me. 100% Squalane Oil is just enough, doesn't cause any problems, and even gives me a glow.

Works well
It seemed very oily at first. But I’m soaked into my skin nicely.
