Squalane is the powerhouse ingredient at the heart of every Biossance formula. It's bioidentical to the moisture found in human skin, making it weightless and instantly absorbed and perfect for use all over the body. Our squalane is derived from sustainable sugarcane, a purer, vegan, more ethical, and more effective version than other forms of squalane. And since it replaces the need for similar moisture taken from the livers of sharks, it saves millions of these critical apex predators per year.
- Squalane oil for the face instantly hydrates and locks in essential moisture.
- Helps boost the absorption of other active ingredients and enables them to work more effectively.
- Promotes microbiome diversity for healthier-looking skin.

JUST ONE INGREDIENT:
Squalane Oil: Weightless, hydrating and high-performing oil, sustainably sourced from sugarcane. Replenishes lost-moisture, helps to maintain hydration and leave the skin exceptionally soft.
1. WHERE DOES YOUR 100% SQUALANE COME FROM? WHY SUGARCANE AND NOT OLIVES?
Traditionally Squalane was harvested from shark liver, though our scientists spent years developing pure Squalane from 100% plant-based, renewable sugarcane. The quality of Squalane produced from olives depends on unreliable factors like weather and crop growth. The quality and purity of our sugarcane Squalane is stable and cost effective.
2. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SQUALANE AND SQUALENE?
The human body produces SqualEne. Squalene is part of our skin's own natural moisture, but the amount made and retained in your skin decreases over time. Our Squalane is a hydrogenated version of Squalene which makes it more suitable for sensitive skin. Additionally, our sugarcane-derived Squalane is a sustainable alternative to the historical production method of squalene from shark liver. Our background in biotechnology allows us to create products that are effective and sustainably sourced wherever possible.
3. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 100% SQUALANE OIL AND SQUALANE + VITAMIN C ROSE OIL? DO I NEED BOTH?
While they both contain super hydrating Squalane, our Vitamin C Rose Oil also contains...(you guessed it!) Vitamin C and rose essential oil, making it suitable for facial use. Our 100% Squalane Oil can be used head-to-toe as an all-over body, face and hair hydrator.
How To Use: Apply to face, body and hair as needed. Great after the shower and post-sun exposure. Safe for all ages.
For face, rub a small amount together between hands to warm. Pat gently onto face, neck and décolleté. For body, massage a few pumps onto skin immediately after showering. For hair, rub a small amount between hands and smooth through dry or wet hair to add shine and tame flyaways, split ends and frizz.
When To Use: Day and night, head-to-toe.
Layering Tip: Start with your cleanser, next, apply eye treatment, follow with a serum and finally your moisturizer. Apply 100% Squalane Oil last to lock in hydration.

Perfect Moisturizer
I’ve used for about a year and Squalane is the perfect moisturizer for me. I put it on at night before bed and it soaks in perfectly. I bought 3 bottles during the recent Black Friday sale. I think it is still a good value at the current full price but hopefully Biossance can get the price down so more people will try since this should be a household staple. Also works amazingly well on chapped lips.

Be aware
I had originally purchased the small bottle and loved the consistency; therefore, during the black Friday sale, i decided to purchase the bigger bottle which was on sale. I received it about a week ago and the consistency IS TOTALLY different. The bigger bottle has a more runny, liquid feel to it than the small bottle. It also sits and soaks in different on my face. TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!!

Salicylate free for Guaifenesin Protocol for fibromyalgia!
There are a very limited number of products that I can use while doing the Guaifenesin Protocol for fibromyalgia treatment, and the 100% squalene oil is one of them. I use this daily on my scalp and hair, and sometimes on my face if my skin is dry. Unlike other oils, this product is lightweight and doesn't make my hair greasy. The 100mL bottle lasts me (and my partner) a whole year, so it is a good investment. This has become a staple cosmetic product for me!

Mixed feelings
I have combination skin and was hesitant to try oil but after reading reviews and finding a deal on a sample pack, I bought sample sizes of the 100% squalane oil and the Squalane+ Vitamin C Rose oil and LOVED them. I saw results within a week and never felt too oily but always hydrated! The squalane oil was on the thicker side (but not sticky) which I saw as a plus because that meant it wasn’t watered down and I would get more bang for my $. So, I decided to invest in the larger bottle of the 100% squalane thinking it would would be worth the higher price tag for the great quality. BUT I immediately noticed the bigger bottle was not the same quality. No way it is 100% squalane, it absolutely has to be watered down. For example when I used the dropper from the small bottle to drop oil on my finger tip it was thick enough to not run off my finger right away, the 12mL pump bottle however, I can’t move my hands fast enough to my face to have it not run off my finger and into the sink. I have to more in general to feel hydrated. And have not noticed the same results I did while using the two sample sized dropper bottles. I’m hoping I just got a bad bottle but I’m very hesitant to spend that much money on the Biossance Oils again. If anything I’d consider going back to the sample sizes for the higher quality oils.

Didn't do a thing for me,
The oil is just another plant based oil, nothing special.

holy grail moisturizer
This has changed the look and feel of my skin for the better (reduced redness and ruddiness/bumpy texture, reduced tight and dry feeling). I have rosacea and super sensitive skin, and everything under the sun - even squalane made from olives - is irritating. This is the only product I've found that does not cause my skin to react. I really pared down my routing and now only use 2 products: a gentle face wash followed by this oil to moisturize. This is the best my skin has ever looked. I will note that even the tiniest bit makes my hair super oily so I keep my hair wrapped in a towel until the oil on my face is mostly absorbed - problem solved. PLEASE do not ever change the source of this oil!

Love love love
I picked this up during a sale and I'm so glad I did. It has truly been a godsend in these cold winter months. I will not hesitate to buy it at full price when I run out. Holy grail moisturizer for me.

Soft Skin/Greasy Hair
This product made my skin feel super soft and hydrated! However, the packaging states to use a "few pumps" of the product in wet or dry hair. I put one pump if it in my wet hair after a shower and it made my hair so greasy I had to wash it out before leaving the house! I bought this product online from Sophora not on this website.

Must-have for hair
If you have frizzy dry curly hair, or unevenly hydrated hair, use this+ glycerine/silicone containing products (ex. Giovanni 2 chick super potion). Squalane will make it look like you have super thick slick hair, and glycerine will help hair to not stick to each other. I put hair in bun, and then it is curly like I've been using heat to make this wavy hairstyle. The effect is very long-lasting unless you put too much oil, then they are very straight, but voluminous. The biggest advantage is that it looks ultra natural

Solution to my problems
I’m 21 years old and struggle with mild acne and dry combination skin: the dryness gets much worse in the summer when I get a lot of sun on my face, and In the winter with cold weather. With that, this summer this oil has really helped my skin stay clear, even and moisturized! I absolutely love it. I usually use it after a light cleanser, and then sprits a mix of Thayers Witch Hazel Rose and water over. It’s perfect! Also would like to note I apply it to my lips too, and they haven’t been chapped in a month!
