Squalane is the powerhouse ingredient at the heart of every Biossance formula. It's bioidentical to the moisture found in human skin, making it weightless and instantly absorbed and perfect for use all over the body. Our squalane is derived from sustainable sugarcane, a purer, vegan, more ethical, and more effective version than other forms of squalane. And since it replaces the need for similar moisture taken from the livers of sharks, it saves millions of these critical apex predators per year.
- Squalane oil for the face instantly hydrates and locks in essential moisture.
- Helps boost the absorption of other active ingredients and enables them to work more effectively.
- Promotes microbiome diversity for healthier-looking skin.

JUST ONE INGREDIENT:
Squalane Oil: Weightless, hydrating and high-performing oil, sustainably sourced from sugarcane. Replenishes lost-moisture, helps to maintain hydration and leave the skin exceptionally soft.
1. WHERE DOES YOUR 100% SQUALANE COME FROM? WHY SUGARCANE AND NOT OLIVES?
Traditionally Squalane was harvested from shark liver, though our scientists spent years developing pure Squalane from 100% plant-based, renewable sugarcane. The quality of Squalane produced from olives depends on unreliable factors like weather and crop growth. The quality and purity of our sugarcane Squalane is stable and cost effective.
2. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SQUALANE AND SQUALENE?
The human body produces SqualEne. Squalene is part of our skin's own natural moisture, but the amount made and retained in your skin decreases over time. Our Squalane is a hydrogenated version of Squalene which makes it more suitable for sensitive skin. Additionally, our sugarcane-derived Squalane is a sustainable alternative to the historical production method of squalene from shark liver. Our background in biotechnology allows us to create products that are effective and sustainably sourced wherever possible.
3. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 100% SQUALANE OIL AND SQUALANE + VITAMIN C ROSE OIL? DO I NEED BOTH?
While they both contain super hydrating Squalane, our Vitamin C Rose Oil also contains...(you guessed it!) Vitamin C and rose essential oil, making it suitable for facial use. Our 100% Squalane Oil can be used head-to-toe as an all-over body, face and hair hydrator.
Squalane Oil For Face: Rub a small amount of pure squalane oil together between hands to warm. Pat gently onto face, neck and décolleté.
Squalane Oil For Body: Massage a few pumps onto skin immediately after showering, paying close attention to areas needing extra hydration like arms, legs, and knees.
Squalane Oil For Hair: Rub a small amount of pure squalane oil between hands and smooth through dry or wet hair to add shine and tame flyaways, split ends and frizz.
TIPS:
Use 100% squalane as a cuticle oil.

Love this
I originally purchased this squalane oil ~2 years ago and did not love it. But after using it right after shaving and over a period of several days (so it didn't go to waste), I realized how much I love this stuff! It does make you a little slippery for a bit (I disagree that it absorbs quickly), but I love it nonetheless. I typically shower at night and use it after showering, though, so it does not really matter. I also use it on my arms, and my elbows are so soft! I would totally recommend.

BEST FACE OIL EVER
I bought this oil for my mom who has dry skin. She says it’s the BEST FACE OIL Ever!!! It hydrates her skin and makes it soft and doesn’t cause breakouts. It has become a routine staple in her skin care.

super sensitive skin
If you have extremely sensitive skin, you face reacts to 98% of the skincare products out there, then you have to use this. When I feel like my skin is breaking out, or is reacting to a product after the application, I put this oil on and it instantly feels cool and subtle. Before I would use jojoba oil because its a natural oil but now I bring this squalane oil everyyyyyy where.

Love it! :)
I’ve never heard of or have used squalane oil prior to this — and to be honest it has done wonders for my skin. I won’t conclude that this product alone has done it all because I recently have started a new beauty regime and have used new products along with this one, but it has definitely added to the wellness of my skin. It’s very light, fast absorbing and moisturizing. I just wish Biossance wasn’t so expensive — I got the sample size (0.4oz for $8) to try it out. I also got a squalane oil from a different brand and they’re practically identical (the other one is a bang for your buck when compared, so I may be purchasing from them instead). Other than that, I’m happy with it! :)

It’s ok
It’s not bad. I don’t like the thick texture. It’s hard to apply and it has sticky feeling. Not good for hair. Even a tiny amount makes hair super greasy. I liked how it worked on my face. Leaving skin glowing, smooth and healthy looking
