We Joined the United Nations Global Compact

by Beth Wischnia December 23, 2020

We have an exciting update to share: Amyris (Biossance’s parent company) is an official member of the United Nations Global Compact, a strategy that supports a set of defined sustainability goals to achieve a better future and healthier planet for all. Amyris is thrilled to join thousands of businesses globally that share the same commitment to improve our world through environmental and social responsibility.

Let’s dive into more specifics about the ambitious, impactful 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs were created through an inclusive process involving a full spectrum of insights from businesses and citizens. Some examples of the 17 SDGs include zero hunger, no poverty, gender equality, affordable and clean energy, climate action, and quality education. The multi-year strategy of the UNGC is to achieve these goals, with the support of its members, by 2030.

Making the world a better place is part of our brand’s DNA. Biossance is rooted in sustainability, and we never lose sight of prioritizing the planet and its people. We’re humbled to be part of this outstanding global effort and look forward to it coming to fruition in 2030.

My industry experience includes years as a beauty editor and leading content for a wide range of skincare and makeup brands. Those experiences led me to Biossance—I was introduced to the brand on an editor press trip in 2017 and instantly fell in love. I toured the labs, created my own 100% Squalane with essential oils, and noticed a dramatic difference in my skin by introducing clean products (especially the Vitamin C Rose Oil) to my regimen. I’m excited to be on this journey with Biossance and be at the forefront of clean beauty innovation.
