Love is in the air. Self-love, that is. Whether you call it self-love or self-care, we’re head over heels for this movement that’s all about treating yourself a little bit better. Here are a few ways we recommend practicing self-love.
Create a Ritual
It’s far too easy to lose track of our own needs, putting everyone and everything ahead of ourselves. Whether it’s overcommitting to plans or giving in to the incessant notifications on our phones, it’s so incredibly important to remember to set time aside for ourselves.
Put the kids to bed, set your phone on Do Not Disturb for 15 minutes and give yourself some attention. Try taking this time to give your skin some love. Start with our Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil and actually remove your waterproof mascara. Hydrate with intention using the Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil by giving yourself a quick facial massage, using upward strokes and gentle pressure to increase blood flow. Your skin—and your mind—will thank you.
Love Yourself at Any Age
In the age of Photoshop and Instagram filters, it’s nearly impossible to avoid comparing ourselves to unrealistic images of poreless models and wrinkle-free celebrities in their 60s. We believe that looking your best doesn’t have to mean looking decades younger. Wendy of Wendy’s Lookbook put it best, “I don’t necessarily want to look younger, I just want to look the best version of me, at any age.”
Taking care of your skin is the best way to achieve this. For example, our new Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum helps to improve the overall look of your skin without the harsh side effects of traditional retinol. When you treat your skin well and love the way you look, comparing yourself to others doesn’t seem so important anymore.
Surround Yourself with Positivity
Negativity can creep into your life in so many ways, whether it’s via gossipy coworkers or moments of self-doubt. Self-love means making more positive choices for ourselves. It’s about replacing the bad-for-you with the good-for-you. At Biossance, we believe in choosing better ingredients so that our customers can have access to safer, more effective products. And what’s more positive than choosing safe skincare without the negative side effects? Is that isn’t self-love, we don’t know what is.
So, how do you practice self-love and self-care? Tell us in the comments below.
