Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Our Best-Selling Vitamin C Rose Oil

by Dana Esterkin July 08, 2020

Everyone has that one product in their beauty cabinet that they can’t live without. For so many of you (and so many of us at Biossance!) that product is our Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil.

Three years ago, we launched this facial oil as our second product, after our head-to-toe hydrating 100% Squalane Oil. Our team of scientists set out to create another powerfully hydrating formula except this time, we wanted to make our first skincare product specifically for the face–one that still features the weightless hydration of squalane while also offering additional treatment benefits. Our standout formula comes packed with an exclusive set of ingredients that work together to visibly hydrate, firm, and give skin a healthy, radiant glow.

Below, we’re sharing more about what makes this formula so unique and effective. We’ve even tapped Biossance’s Global Director of Education McKenzie Bolt and Senior Director of Sales and Education, Nancy Turchin Malloy, to share their expert knowledge on this results-driven best-seller.

What makes this formula so unique?

  1. An Exclusive Ingredient Trio

In this formula, you’ll find an exclusive blend of hydrating squalane, brightening vitamin C, and Chios crystal oil. “There’s not another face oil on the market that has those three ingredients,” Malloy says. “We use the highest standard of ingredients to give you the kind of benefits you’re not going to find anywhere else.”

  1. Stable Vitamin C With A Sensory Boost

In addition to this exclusive combo, we also use sensorial Damascus rose extract and tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (THD for short), a stable, oil-soluble form of vitamin C. This unique ingredient is incredibly effective in penetrating the skin to boost the brightening and firming benefits while also providing antioxidant properties.

  1. The Addition Of Hydrating Squalane

What really sets this balanced hydrator apart from other vitamin C serums is its ultra-hydrating squalane base. “The fact that we’re able to have the synergistic blend of Chios crystal oil and vitamin C with squalane helps to deliver its brightening powers in a texture and feel that is unlike any other oil with treatment benefits.”

Does it really work?

It’s incredibly important to us to clinically test the efficacy of all of our products to ensure that the results we’re striving for really do come through. This formula passed its clinical test with flying colors. Here are a few of our findings:

  • - 97% agree skin suppleness and firmness is improved*
  • - 91% agree skin has a healthy radiant glow*
  • - 91% agree skin appears younger-looking**

*Based on results of a self-assessment study of 32 women ages 18-68, after 21 days twice-daily use.

**Based on a 28-day clinical study of 40 women ages 35-60, twice-daily use.

    How The Experts Use It

    1. As An AM And PM Essential

Gently press three drops onto clean skin after your serum and moisturizer to lock in its firming and hydrating benefits. In the morning, the fast-absorbing oil can energize skin and give it a radiant glow before makeup application (or in place of it). At night, use it to incorporate powerful overnight hydration. “By applying it on top of your moisturizer, you can essentially create your own sleep mask,” says Malloy.

    1. Mixed With Foundation

“When I travel, I like to mix our Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil with a longwear foundation,” Malloy adds. “It gives such a nice look to makeup. It’s not heavy coverage, but more of an easy lightweight coverage. You can basically turn your foundation into a tinted moisturizer with a couple of drops of this rose oil.”

    1. As A Primer

If you’re looking for full foundation coverage, but still want to combine these benefits with your makeup routine, try using it as a primer instead. “Makeup goes on so much better when you prime your skin with this oil,” says Bolt. “It really helps to seamlessly blend color.”
